Almost 10 years ago, Light In The Attic and DJ Supreme La Rock compiled the first ever set of vintage Pacific Northwest soul on Wheedle’s Groove: Seattle’s Finest In Funk & Soul 1965-75 (LITA 009) featuring such rare sides as “I Just Want To Be (Like Myself)” by legendary funk outfit Robbie Hill’s Family Affair. Nearly a decade on, more unheard Seattle soul gems continue surfacing. This November 29th, Light In The Attic is honored to release, for the first time on vinyl, Gotta Get Back: The Unreleased L.A. Sessions from Robbie Hill’s Family Affair.

If Blood Moon sounds more like a label compilation than a proper album, that's because it is: The Game started Blood Money Entertainment in 2012, and the imprint's first signees, Skeme and Dubb, are featured here along with a who's-who of guests. The tracks are united by bleak, lumbering boom-bap and a whole lot of angry rappers. The Game is incensed by hip-hop's new generation on "Bigger than Me," and 2 Chainz, Yo Gotti, and even Soulja Boy are apoplectic on "Really." Things lighten up on the standout "Or Nah," which unites the popular ratchet production sound with its spiritual godfather, Too $hort.

A watershed album for the multi-instrumental singer/songwriter and producer, it only served to further cement Isaac Hayes’ reputation as a progressive soul artist capable of unmistakably original arrangements and genre-defining R&B mastery. This new vinyl reissue, complete with replica “fold-out” packaging, features audio remastered from the original analog tapes by leading engineer Dave Cooley and pressed on 180-gram vinyl. It is a must-have for all serious soul and R&B fans. Essential listening

STILL CAUGHT UP is the conclusion of the saga set out on its predecessor and the subject of the latest in our short series of expanded editions of selected Millie Jackson long-playing classics. Originally released on Spring in July 1975, the LP took the story a few years on from where “Caught Up” had left it and added a further dimension to the memorable love triangle that involved Millie, as “narrator” and “Mr & Mrs Jody”. As before, Millie seamlessly married familiar material with some specially written songs to produce a story line that made your average Jerry Springer Show look meek and mild by comparison. “Still Caught Up” featured several songs that will always be associated with Millie, regardless of who cut them first – Loving Arms being perhaps the most obvious example. - Photographs of the actual used record in the store -
