Berlin-based Swedish saxophonist Otis Sandsjö returns with the eagerly-awaited sequel to "Y-OTIS". On "Y-OTIS 2", released by We Jazz Records on July 24, Sandsjö and his close associate, bassist/producer Petter Eldh (of Koma Saxo), deepen their vision of genre-bending, forward-looking "liquid jazz" of tomorrow. The core group also includes Dan Nicholls on keys and Tilo Weber on drums, and also featured on the album are Swedish jazz greats Jonas Kullhammar (of Koma Saxo) and Per "Texas" Johansson, cellist Lucy Railton and trumpeter Ruhi-Deniz Erdogan.

With multilayered arrangements based on different kurdish music traditions and inspired by their indivudual experiences of Pop- and Clubculture, Philippos Sîpano & The MPC Orchestra’s new album can be both perceived as diasporic Popmusic or epic dancefloor monster for experienced music lovers.

The music on this record is inspired by and composed for The Golden Age of Danish Pornography – a collection of vintage hardcore short films from the early seventies, directed by Danish porn pioneer Freddy Weiss.

The ghost of Miles Davis (mid 1970s edition) hangs over much of the proceedings, thanks mainly to the presence of Andy Knight's quicksilver, effects drenched trumpet; the opening title track is a slow burning slice of dystopian funk laced with lysergic electronic touches and gurgling electric bass. 'In Rhythm' is a deep, funky, juggernaut that doesn't really let up for much of its 7 minutes.
